We had just exited the NBC news studio in downtown San Diego. There were four of us representing "The Chase" on this publicity tour: myself, Chris Roberts, Melissa Disney, and CJ (the PR rep assigned to us by Doritos).
As we stood in Horton Plaza, making our goodbyes, a shriek came from off to the side. Lo and behold, a short, black woman was walking up saying (very loudly), "Oh, my God! It's the Doritos commercial people! I love you guys!"
All four of us looked at each other and began inwardly laughing as this woman proceeded to hug Melissa, comment on seeing us on the news after Americal Idol the night before (still trying to figure out how, as FOX didn't interview us), comment that my outfit gave us away, comment on how much she loved the commercial, and how cute Snowball was.
And then we posed for a picture on her camera phone. Well, I suggested it as I figures that she would like it.
I didn't realize that I was quite a celebrity yet, but apparently some people must really like cat commercials. Maybe I should get a job producing spots for Whiskas and Meow Mix... Nah, I'll stick to Dr. von Kaiser and my other television projects. Although, a paid producing role might not be a bad thing...
Anyway, this was my first public fan encounter. A bit weird, but I walked away laughing at the situation. I think that I could honestly get used to this...
